Tegrity FAQs

  • What is Tegrity?

    Tegrity is a flexable software tool that can capture audio, video and computer screen activity, then wrap it up in a single "Tegrity session" which is automatically uploaded and linked into your Blackboard Course. Tegrity can be used from any UTPA classroom computers and from office or home computers to create lessons, demonstrations, critiques, podcasts and other materials that can be accessed online.

  • How does it work?

    Using the Tegrity software and any microphone attached to your computer Tegrity can capture your class lectures. Tegrity will capture all power point slides, video, and/or Elmo presentations and index your voice to each indiviual slide allowing for key word search on topics in the slides. Students can focus study key points or they can view an entire lecture. Tegrity also automatically creates a podcast with RSS feeds for student's iPods or other mobile devices.

  • Why should I use Tegrity?

    Tegrity positively impacts student learning, student satisfaction, and student retention without the need of an adjusted teaching style. Students no long have to decide between listening and taking notes. During class they can engage- listen more and learn more. After class, or before an exam students efficiently review class topics again using laptops, iPods, MP3 Players, or even their cell phones. If students have to miss a class they can access the class through Tegrity and be prepared for the next class session.

  • What are some of the benefits of Tegrity?

    Abilty to easily add related Course Materials:
    The Instructor can add supplementary, course-related material in a designated, easily accessible area.

    Frequented class sections Report:
    Instructors can identify which chapters are most accessed. Helping them identify "problem areas" for further elaboration.
    Instructors can also identify which sessions and classes aren't being accessed.

  • How do I start using Tegrity?

    Click on Register to enable Tegrity in your Blackboard course shell.

    Tegrity is a very simple program to use, and the need for any training is minimal. However, if you wish to get additional resources, you can visit the Tegrity tutorials, for a short demo.

    Although it is necessary to have a Blackboard shell to use Tegrity, you are not required to use Blackboard or any of its tools in order to use this lecture capture technology.
